I am going to keep this portfolio assignment pretty general.
In the video we watched of Mans Rosling at the TED conference, he talked about the importance of visualizing data--looking at just numbers isn't as compelling and perhaps not as understandable as seeing a visualization of that data. I would like you to explore two things:
Can you find an example of visualization done right.
Find an example of visualization that works--it helps us in understanding the data. There are a lots of places you can look. Just googling "data visualization" will work. You may want to look at http://www.visualcomplexity.com/vc/
Some of these visualizations are solely artistic and don't really help us in understanding the data. Try to find one that does help.

Upload your own data to either many-eyes or http://www.swivel.com Try various visualization options and perform a subjective evaluation.
