RAT3BriefNotes

You should know the material in sections 3.4-3.6. I won't ask anything about 3.7. Understand what a finite state machine is (as a computer science concept) and how it is applied in this chapter.

For the extra reading you should know the material in sections 2.2. to 2.4. In both the book and the reading they discuss the difference between a latch and a flip flop. Please be familiar with this section of the reading. The reading also gives definitions to terms I put on the whiteboard. You should be familiar with these. Section 2.2.3 nicely presents the topic of control and timing signals.

In class I covered glitches that may occur when you translate Karnaugh Maps to logic circuits. You should understand this, know the definitions, and know how to fix the glitches.
